Sylvia’s Spas are a series of short educational, armchair travel videos set at three locations of YTL’s Spa Village in Southeast Asia. The footage was created to highlight the works of Sylvia Planning and Design at Tangjong Jara and Pangkor Laut in Malaysia and Tembok in Bali. These are the first resorts of this kind in that their focus is on infusing ancient healing modalities of the Indigenous Malay, Chinese, Indian and Balinese people into the spa experience.
The videos are an appetizer of the work of Sylvia Sepielli, a world-renowned spa designer, and give guests a taste of the unique experience of Spa Village. As seen in the footage, concentration at these luxurious resorts is not on typical surface spa treatments, but rather it is on caring for guests in greater depth by “massaging” the soul.
This specific type of care has a history of more than a thousand years with origins in the convergence of the different cultural influences during the days of the Malacca Sultanate. All treatments combine physical and spiritual health and well-being, and are based on one of four umbrella concepts: Rejuvenation and Longevity, Relaxation and Stress Reduction, Detoxification, and Romance.
The locations provide opportunities to visit such sites as the sacred water temple, Tirtha Empul. The water is used in spa rituals to enhance the healing process of guests. Exclusive therapies like Body Smoking in Malaysia are another experience available at Spa Village Resorts.
The three luxurious spa properties are a result of the collaboration between the globally recognized spa designer Sylvia Sepielli and YTL. Sylvia’s Spas is a sneak preview of an unforgettable stay at one of the three Southeastern Asia resorts. They display an unparalleled sincerity of the resort employees’ dedication to guests and their health. The videos are a glimpse of a world class experience of enlightenment and rejuvenation.
